This rugged Afghan Choora Knife has a thick-spined T-section blade of 1060 high carbon steel; the grip is crafted from two halves of carved and smoothly polished water buffalo horn which are riveted to a wide full tang to create a very sturdy fighting dagger. The bolster halves are of cast brass.

Included is a wood-core scabbard with brass fittings and a protective leather wrap.

The Choora is a fighting dagger commonly seen with the Mahsud tribe who inhabit the Khyber Pass – an region well-familiarized with centuries of intermittent war. The Choora with its T-section blade and acutely tapered tip is purpose-designed for piercing chainmail – a common defense to medieval India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. The stiffened T-section spine gives the blade increased rigidity to ensure it pierces with maximum force with minimal loss to flex. The design is very similiar to the Peshkabz dagger of India and Iran and survives to this day among the tribesmen for both its utility and heritage.
