The Battlecry! Acre sword has a blade of sharpened and tempered 1065 high carbon steel – the tempering gives the blade a flexing hardness of 50-52 HRC. The crossguard and pommel are crafted from mild steel and the grip is overlaid in supple black leather and inlaid with bands of twisted steel wire. The thick blade tang is given a large peen on the pommel to ensure that the sword is robustly constructed.

The sword blade and hilt fittings are given a battle-worn and antiqued blued finish. This finish resists the onset of rust.

The scabbard is constructed from leather and is fitted with a steel chape and locket – these steel components are given a blued finish to match the sword. The scabbard belt loops are swivel-riveted to the scabbard body. This sword comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.

The Acre sword is inspired by the knightly arming swords of the 11th-13th centuries. Often used from horseback, these swords were designed to have good reach coupled with decisive cutting power. The wide blade, which stays wide even to the tip gives the sword great chopping and hacking power. The wide blade fuller helps to reduce the weight of the wide blade without sacrificing any notable durability.

First Sword! One of the best purchases I have ever made! I have primarily used it to swing at and chop training dummies, but it also serves as decor whenever it is not in use. So far, I have had to settle with cardboard boxes because I cannot afford to keep replacing anything but cardboard. But it’s still very fun!

My only complaint would be to put the branding on the scabbard and not on the blade, it really takes away from the beauty of it.
My review sits at 5 stars, but would more accurately be at a 4.7/5.

Maybe I will make a video, who knows.

Great cutter, could do with improvements This sword is a blackened version of the “Classic medieval sword” by the same company. Its well made and rock solid, and the edge geometry is decent enough to cut through a wide array of targets. The fuller groove is straight and consistent so no problems there. Glaring problems exist though. For one the balance could be made better by thinning out the guard and increasing the size of the pommel. Also, the blade should be shorter, as its longer than the bastard sword of the battlecry line. (This is also a cause of the balance issue). Other than that nothing is wrong with it. High quality sword all in all.

Just Awesome! Received the Acre today, and I am really pleased. What a beauty, and the price, … just amazing. The bar has been raised in the mid price sword arena, with these swords. I have had high dollar swords in the past, and they were outstanding, but with price tags $1500 to $3000, and I found I had just as much enjoyment collecting mid price swords such as the battlecry Acre. You are passing up a bargain if you pass up these swords.

Really Nice Sword You can’t beat this Sword, for the money. Now some may be turned off by the blackened effect, but it has an old look to it, not a perfect shiny lacquered look like some other make black swords. This sword feels good in the hand, and it looks like Windlass has stepped up their quality control on this line everything is tight and aligned. Pretty sharp out of the box which is nice too. Scabbard, ….. it is what it is, nothing to brag Home about, but functional for sure. Over all, I am very pleased with this sword and would recommend it highly.

Beautiful You’ll be impressed how this blade handles, it’s a cut above for its price I’m impressed with the battle cry series and I’ll recommend it to anyone on the fence about it!

Excellent blade Blade came quickly and well oiled, edge was a little dull but easy to sharpen. No warps, and using against trees, tatami mats, stumps, and foliage was resulted in no edge damage or warpage. Very tough, decent balance, heavy slasher with a decent tip for thrusts. Well built and tanky. Would recomend.

I just got this sword and I am already In love with it. I cannot give specific details on which parts of the sword are great because this is the first actual good sword I’ve purchased. I have always loved swords since I was a kid, but could only afford the cheaply made katanas and those obviously are not very fun to mess around with since they are wobbly and unbalanced and such. With this sword I will say the only slight downside is that it is a bit on the heavy side while weilding with one hand, but if your hands aren’t really large you should be able to two hand it with one hand on the pommel. I didn’t pay for the sharpening service and it cut and stabbed through a milk jug filled with water with ease. A big plus too is it just looks so damn cool. The finish is beautiful and I’ll definitely be practicing with it as well as hanging up on my wall as a decorative piece. The sheath is also very nice, the blade fits in there very snug. Also comes with a nice leather scabbard. I’ll also mention that they’re based 40 miles outside of Chicago I believe and I live in east Texas and it only took 6 days to get to me from the day I purchased it. I’m gonna give it a 5 star even though like I said it’s a bit heavy for 1 handing at first but it’s definitely not something you can’t just use more and get strong enough to wield it. Overall great sword!
