The word Tomahawk comes from tamahaac Algonquian for what is used in cutting. The Native American tomahawk is an ancient weapon, and until the arrival of European settlers and their steel, tomahawks were made from chiseled and sharpened stone. Recognizing the superiority of steel, Native Americans wholeheartedly traded for and adopted the steel head tomahawk we recognize today. Even the Continental Congress of revolutionary America required that Militiamen bring a tomahawk or cutting sword with their fighting kit.

This small, unsharpened double-headed tomahawk is made from forged carbon steel and is mounted onto a wooden shaft.
