This langseax is based on the Seax of Beagnoth – an Anglo Saxon seax dated to the 10th century which was found in the River Thames. An outstanding example of its type, it is on display as part of the collection of the British Museum.

This replica has a blade of high carbon steel which is etched on both sides with runic inscription. The blade is stoutly mounted into a hilt of wood and embellished with brass banding. A durable sheath of thick leather with stitched construction is included. Its integrated belt loops allow for easy wear.

A solid blade and beautiful etching, a great shopper or blunt trauma inflictor This seax is one awesome creation. The blade is solid in construction, very little wiggle room. While being rigid and firm, you must know that this is not only a weapon but a tool as well. The blunt side of the blade is solid and reinforced by the fuller grooves which makes the blunt side a good weapon for causing blunt force trauma. Pun intended.
The only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is the handle could have been augmented greatly by adding a guard and pommel. Also, I have big hands (I’m told) so I wrapped the handle in fine latigo leather lace in a nice dark brown making it look even more authentic. Definitely a 9/10 not a 4/5. Get one!!

Not battle ready I sharpened mine took it out and it broke after just a few hits on very soft wood. Would not stand up to any sort of real battle. It is simply a display piece.

I bought the Untempered version of this on sale and will thus be evaluating it as a display piece. The handle is smooth in hand and feels overall nice, blade is straight and all the runes seem well done and fake-age’d. Blade intentionally blunt. Leather sheath seems nice in hand and not cheaply done. 5/5 for the price point, I’m not sure I’d spend near 100$ on only a display piece but it does look nice. definitely worth a grab on sale. 4/5
