The Regent is inspired by the beautiful longswords favored in areas of Germanic influence during the mid to late 15th century. It has a long hollow ground blade with edges that arc gracefully to an acute point. The raised spine gives this blade a good stiffness for its weight while the keen edges are crisp and well defined. The blade pairs efficient width at the cutting section with a strong awl-shaped point.

The hilt is inspired by that on a sword found in the Boden See (dated to the mid 15th C), kept at the Landesmuseum, Zich. The grip is hexagonal and has the typical waisted profile. The sword is a quick, responsive and efficient cutter. It manages to be a hollow ground blade in profile with a thick, stiff spine whilst staying relatively light for its size.

The Regent has a hand ground high carbon steel blade is tempered for flexibility and edge retention. The crossguard and pommel are cast from mild steel. The grip is cord-wrapped wood fitted over with tight leather.

The sword grip comes in a selection of colors, please select an option below.

Albion Regent This is an exquisite and extraordinarily strong sword. Everything from the blade to the hilt is crafted in expert fashion. It cuts very smoothly and can take a surprising amount of abuse with minimal damage.

The Albion Regent This sword is nothing short of incredible. It is elegantly beautiful yet incredibly imposing, not too many frills in the aesthetic design, but not by any means plain or boring, simple elegance really. It handles like a dream, the sword is light and fast, but retains a lot of authority in the cut while having incredibly precise point control and maneuverability. It’s weight (mine is roughly 3.5 lbs or 1.59 kg), feels like a sword half its weight, and almost floats from guard to guard.

In cutting drills, I was surprised at how easily it cut, I started with bottles and when I threw my first cut at a relatively thick Starbucks cold brew bottle, I thought I had missed or somehow managed to hit it only with the tip, until I looked at the bottle and realized that the top half was slowly sliding down the bottom half. I then tried it on some soaked newspaper, which offered more resistance but the sword managed to cut clean through a 3″ (7.62 cm) thick roll without much trouble. Thrusting was effortless, as I was able to pierce cloth with absolutely no resistance.

Truly an incredible sword that is worth the hefty price tag.

After a very long 18 month wait my Regent is finally here. What can I say? It’s an Albion. Truly a cut above the competition; in every detail. My daughter has already made her claim to this, some day family heirloom. Sure you could get a lesser sword to display with your family crest but why settle for less when you can own the BEST.
