This saber was widely used by the British and their Prussian allies under General Blucher in the Battle of Waterloo. The blade was derived from the ferocious Indian Talwar and was reviled by the French who protested its use due to the horribly destructive wounds it inflicted. In fact, this saber was so successful as a cutting weapon, that the German Cavalry continued to use it right up to the beginning of the 20th century! Features a sharpened high carbon steel blade with steel hilt and a leather wrapped grip. Includes a matching steel scabbard.

Pattern 1796 British Light Cavalry Sabre Review and Test Cutting, Reproduction by Cold Steel

    1. Adam Snyder (verified owner)

The saber itself seems well-crafted, but inside the steel scabbard there is a plastic piece with foam spacers attached which keeps the blade secure and silent that just fell out after unsheathing it less than 50 times over the last six months. A jury-rigged answer for a budget sword that most people will never wear. I want to replace the liner but I haven’t figured out what will work best yet.
