This Gothic Gorget With Pauldrons Set is an impressive combination of stylized shoulder combined with the neck armor and harness necessary to wear the pauldrons! And even better, this set features a fantastic gothic style that’s really quite attractive. All three pieces of armor (the gorget and the two pauldrons) are crafted from 18 gauge steel and feature an attractive shiny metal finish that makes this armor all but gleam in the light. The pauldrons feature an impressive and outstanding gothic style that uses one large, elegantly shaped shoulder plate to protect most of the shoulder, as well as three smaller lames that extend down to protect the arm. An additional plate extends at the top of the pauldron to add additional protection, while also providing a harness to secure the pauldron to the included gorget. Attached to the front of the pauldron is a star-shaped protector, while the back of the pauldron features an elegant, swept design reminiscent of a wing. The gorget features an embossed design across its surface and features a strap and buckle on either side for wearing, as well as a leather strap on each shoulder for attaching the pauldrons. The pauldrons feature a strap and buckle that secures around the bicep, as well as a buckle at the top that connects them to the gorget. Really Impressed For The Price I looked at these for over a year, reading reviews elsewhere and speaking to whomever I could about Epic’s products, and this set in particular. In the end, I decided to make the purchase and take my own word for it.
I’m a HEMA instructor, have my own school, and decided to add these to a pieced-together harness. While 18g steel is light and thin, I theorized that there was enough overlap on these to allow for solid enough protection. I figured the biggest issue would be getting them to fit me (6′ tall and 215lbs) well enough and work well enough with the rest of my “franken-harness.” They have worked wonderfully!
I took some solid hits on this set as well as went to the ground with them, and it was never uncomfortable, they stayed in place very well without any issues, and overall functionality was honestly perfect. I am very impressed.
The strap and buckles are very good quality and much better than some of my GDFB items straps for sure.
These have worked perfectly for me and what I want them for. I DO NOT recommend them for Battle of the Nations type bohurts as they are not made for that, neither will they pass inspection for them anyway, but for anything else I think they work wonderfully. I’m very happy with the purchase.
