Based on an original of the period, The Hanwei Revolutionary War Hanger (or Cutte) is accurately sized and antiqued to replicate a museum piece. The fully tempered, high carbon steel blade has a distal taper, with fullers on both sides along the spine, and is light and quick. The hilt fittings are cast in solid steel and blackened, matching the locket and chape of the leather-covered scabbard.

Hands down one of the best swords I’ve ever owned I have owned one of these swords for many years and have fought with it against an assortment of other types of blades. Compared to all others I’ve handled, this one feels the best and has stood the test of time and abuse. The overall feel of the sword is comfortable and well balanced. Not too heavy and not overly long so its easy to wield. The antiqued blade is beautiful and suits the rustic feel of the sword. Took many years of fights to finally have the blade start to rattle within the grip. Unsure of how to fix this issue but still fights very well. Blade withstands a lot of hits and still keeps a fine edge. Highly recommended.

Hanwei Revolutionary War Hanger I purchased the Hanwei Revolutionary War Hanger on July 2016, so I haven’t had it very long. But What I do know about this Fantastic sword is its well made. And it’s made better than the price would let on. Most times you pay a decent or low price we think there’s something wrong with the sword. As far as quality, it’s great! But as far as fancy it’s not. It’s not suppose to be. It has an excellent antique finish which really makes it look like it’s got some serious age while not being well taken care of. Which on a wooden sailing ship it would be subject to salt water on a regular basis. It is also a sword you can have some serious fun with while not worrying about scratching it. I’ve got.a nice katana and my hanger has moved into my favorite sword position due to its quality, looks and just plain fun to use. I’m not saying Hanwei makes a perfect sword but I trust them and I compare any sword I’m interested in to a Hanwei. Sometimes if the sword is close to in quality and is cheaper I’ll pick it up. But in my opinion for the average funded person a Hanwei is a quality hall mark. And this war hanger is a very good sword for the type sword it is, for the money you pay. One thing that I believe everyone will eventually find out. If you actually use your swords you will eventually have to repair them or fix them yourself. This sword is a simple non elaborate looking sword which means repairs should be easy and not to common. The more elaborate it is and the more you use it, the more repairs and the more expensive they’ll be. I give this sword 5 stars for quality, looks, toughness and just plain fun of use.

I bought this blade a while back, I saw it as the beefier alternative to the “pirate Captain hanger” by Windlass Steelcrafts.

It’s hefty in the swing but the hilt offsets the weight nicely. Scabbard is stout and well made. It meshes an outstanding “pirate” cutlass and I’m very satisfied with it.
